ABOUT THE PROGRAM

 

Alft & Wilson Publishing first published Iowa Support Master in 1994. Since then, we have grown from 85 users to more that 1000. Lawyers and judges from Nebraska to Illinois use Iowa Support Master to calculate child support. More judges and lawyers depend on Iowa Support Master than any other method of calculating child support.

The program has built-in features that:

  • take you to our web site at the click of a button. take you to our free forms site where you have unlimited access to a number of fillable electronic forms. If you furnish us a form, we will turn it into a fillable, electronic form for free.

  • update the software instantly, on-line.

In order to run Iowa Support Master, you must be using an IBM compatible computer with Windows 98 or better. We recommend that you have at least 64MB of RAM. To check your computer, look for the "My Computer" icon on your desktop. Right click the icon then select "properties." The first screen should have information about your computer.

 
 
THE STORY OF ALFT & WILSON PUBLISHING
 

Michael Alft is a software programmer. He lives in West Chester, Pennsylvania.

Patrick Wilson is an attorney and lives in West Des Moines, Iowa.

In 1994, Alft came to see Wilson about a software legal issue. At about the same time, Wilson had been working on designing a spreadsheet that would calculate child support pursuant to the Guidelines. Upon learning that Alft was a software programmer, they began working together to produce a program that has become Iowa Support Master.

We owe a great deal of thanks to many judges, lawyers, legal assistants, secretaries and the folks at Iowa Help Desk. Suffice it to say that we would not have the success we have had were it not for the professionalism of those who are engaged in family law in Iowa. Special thanks do go out to Judge William Thomas; Judge Robert Hutchinson; Judge Carl Peterson; Judge Suzy Larson-Christianson; Lawyers Jim Meade, Dan Bray, Chad Keypros, Joe Bertroche, Stephen B. Split Custody When the parties are dividing the children, just click the Split button.
 

Reverse When you are not sure who will have custody, you may click the reverse button and all information is reversed.

IPERS Calculator With this feature, you will save hours on the phone trying to find the answers to your IPERS questions. This feature also works for any mandatory retirement benefit plan. We furnish you will all of the percentages.
 

Flexible taxes and credits Complete flexibility to add, reduce, delete and change taxes and credits.
 

Update On-Line Click the button to check for on-line updates. If your computer is connected to the Internet, the program will automatically connect to our web server, download and install all updates for you. You will always have the most current version of Iowa Support Master with this feature.
 

Quick Find Click the find button and see an alphabetical listing of every item in the program. Click on the item and go there immediately.
